You'll find a lovely landscape where you'll find contrasts between the mediterrenean sea and the mountains. The climate is very stable with mild temperatures throughout the year. In Gandia you'll find a beautiful fusion between the sky and the mountains.
In the Ducal city as it is also known, you'll find plenty of places to visit, from L'Alqueria del Duc to the Castle of Bairen, passing through the historic center that has been remodeled and turned into a pedestrian street, as well as the Pias school. The Ducla Palace and City Hall buildings are also worth paying a visit too.
As to what festivities are concerned, the "fallas" of Gandia are celebrated in March and have been declared national heritage. There are other festivities to mention like those of Sant Antoni del Porquet that is is celebrated each January.
On the other hand, Gandia also has a great gastronomy. It is based on the odors and tastes of the great Paella, very typical in the area of Safor. There are also many possibilitie for leisure activities such as sports, alternative sports, beaches and trekking routes.
Gandia is a city that in the last few years has seen how tourism has become the main source of income, leaving the main activity of Gandia, the agriculture of citruses, on the sidelines.
The locality has an excellent variety of hotels, apartment rentals, hostels, campings, houses, villas and much much more. During the summer months the population gets quite higher and for this reason we recommend that if you are planning your holidays during these months, that you make your bookings well in advance to guarantee you the accommodation of choice in Gandia! |
