Since Gandia, Spain has a very important historic heritage, the city takes good care of it´s monuments by not distorting it´s beauty with tourist developments.

The most important monuments in the Valencia municipality are L´Alqueria del Duc a fortressed building that was declared historic and artistic and was fuound in ruins until it was aquired by the Gandia city Hall in 1981. The Castle of Bairen is in the historic center and just oozes with tales. It was remodeled less than a decade ago and has become a historic site without the noises of cars and other motor vehicles. It is a pedestrian zone from the main street of Calle mayor to San Jose de Calazanz or Escuela Pias Square.

The building of Escuela pias is an old building belonging to the Gandia University. It has also been remodeled. The Colegiata is another important building in the historic center of the city. It is more than 500 years old and up until today is an example of gothic art in the area of La Safor. This Colegiata was declared Historic Artistic Monument in 1931. The Gandia City Hall was built in 1778, the Ducal Palace mixes a variety of styles and was declared historic artistic monument as well. This Palace was declared in ruins but the Jesuits reformed it in the end of the 19th century.

A cultural stroll through Gandia can be a marvelous thing to do while on e holiday. You can start in Pias school, the the historic center to the City Hall where you can enjoy the marvels of this millenial city.
